"Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse." -Clark W. Griswald, Christmas Vacation
I did it! I survived the dreaded annual festivity of putting up the Christmas lights on the Watson casa. How did I manage to get over my fear of heights long enough to tack up thousands of twinkling lights? It was easy! No, I didn't chug a bottle of wine, strap on a stunt harness, and hope for the best. Instead, I called for backup. Thanks to my brother-in-law who doesn't share my fear of standing on the roof, I was able to complete this year's dreaded task.
The lights may be up, but I still have an uneasy feeling. According to my brother-in-law, I have exactly 364 days to get over my fear of heights. Something tells me he isn't coming over to decorate next year!
How did you spend your Thanksgiving weekend? Did you have a little of bit of Griswald in you too?
Cheers!

Congrats on a successful day on the roof.
Sunday after Thanksgiving and I haven't taken my lights out of storage yet. Still waiting for a good snow storm and an excuse to leave them there.
Today and I am catching up on the many blogs I follow. Did miss reading The Wine Whore daily so this is my first look at the new header. Like it.
Did get to enjoy some good wines while away, but unfortunately did not take any notes.
Going to open an inexpensive Finger Lakes Seyval tonight and hopefully a blog update.
Thank you! I cheated, but I'm just glad the worst is done with. Good to see you! I missed reading your comments and your blog posts too!
I wasn't sure about doing the new header but it seems like it is going over well. I just enjoy changing things up (hopefully for the better)... makes it more fun for me! :)
I have to begin Phase II of Christmas decorating this afternoon but I'll check your blog later today to see your newest post!
Good to see you back Joe!
Cheers!
I watched Clark in both Xmas Vacation and the original Vacation movies. But I didn't climb up my roof to place lights. I would probably end up as Clark if I even tried. We wil start decorating this week, and mainly only do the front exterior of the house. As we are the last house on the right, not many would be able to see lights if we placed them on the roof.
LOL! I am sure I would have fallen off... next year, I'm just going to decorate the front exterior too. There's no way I'm getting up there! :)
Cheers!
