Ok, so I went away for a week thinking I would just deal with the piles of boxes of wine when I got back. Now I'm drowning in a problem. This mountain of brown cardboard is starting to look more like a landfill than my office. I've decided that tonight is the night for me to go through what has arrived over the last two weeks so I can catalog, store, and organize them appropriately.
Unfortunately, since I live in Florida I am not lucky enough to have a cellar to store my wine. I have two wine fridges for the "special" bottles and the rest are stacked patiently into my closet to be enjoyed later.
I'm not too disappointed about the whole basement thing. After all, that just gives me an excuse to drink the wine that comes in faster. Someone once told me that nobody should ever outlive their wine collection. This is easier said than done, but I still think the message is important to remember. What's the use of having thousands of nice bottles of wine, if they never have the chance to be enjoyed. That's like having the cure for cancer and never sharing it with the world.
Okay, I'll leave you to think about this while I work on cleaning up this mess!
What are you drinking tonight? Will you be sharing one of wine's miracles with someone else?

A mess I would LOVE to come home to!!!
Let me know if you need some help drinking all that free wine! LOL
Tonight I am enjoying a bottle of St. Francis Red...first time I have had it and I really like it.
Popped a 3L bottle of Ross Andrew Winery 2006 Boushey Vineyard Syrah for a dinner party. It is *really* good!
You should really work on your organizational skills :)
LOL! It's funny because I shouldn't complain about getting free wine, but man, sometimes it can be a lot of work keeping up with it. I hope you all enjoyed last night's affairs!
Randy - I understand how you feel! It's a messy blessing with great benefits! I look forward to each affair. They look at me longingly and I feel guilty if I don't pay them some attention. The harem is growing and each wants their time to be courted!
Josh
I think I see a GruV Olympics box in there... ;)
So Josh, how have you been keeping up with all of your samples? Do you get the chance to review each one? This is always hard, especially if you are like me and want to give each one some one-on-one attention.
CC, you better believe it! I've already started ranking the contestants! Let me just say.... YUMM! :)
Right now I'm definitely committed to having at least 1 of the lot that comes receive air time either through a taste through of a line up or a head to head with similar variety. One thing we've found is the need for a bigger wine rack!
Josh
Very cool! I have no doubt that you will need a bigger and bigger wine rack with all of the great work you've been doing! Seriously man, you're a rockstar!
