Good call Rachel! I could totally see how coffee should be on this list. Funny thing is that the more I enjoy wine, the more I appreciate other things in life... that's pretty cool!

Also, I realized a few months ago that my blog should be exactly that: a journal of grapes, bottles, blends, and vineyards that I like. It's changed the content slightly from the way it was when I first stated but the difference now is that I am writing this for ME. I don't want to have to keep my notes in 20 different places. Instead, I wanna be able to go back in 5, 10, 20 years and be able to see what I was drinking today! Pretty cool stuff! :)

Great suggestions. I especially like suggestion #4 about looking for flavor similarities in other things like cheese, wine and beer. You should add coffee to that list, by the way.

I also think keeping a log or journal of grapes, blends or vineyards you like helps. I always tell myself to do this but never actually do it. I wind up wandering around the store wishing I could remember.

I completely agree with you on this post, especially #6. Too often, people tend to stick to what they know without giving interesting wines a chance.
